Javier Molins

Javier Molins holds a doctorate in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and a Degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has held the posts of Director of the Marlborough Gallery in Madrid and Director of Communications and Development at the IVAM.

He has organised over 35 monographic and thematic exhibitions on artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Sean Scully, Ugo Rondinone, Tony Cragg, Manolo Valdés, Jaume Plensa, Julian Opie, Valerio Adami and Equipo Crónica, across the globe including Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, Singapore and Dubai.

He has authored and edited various publications including “Artistas en los campos nazis” (Artists in the Nazi Camps), “Grandes Artistas: La mirada de los descendientes” (Great Artists: Their Descendants' View), “El arte de coleccionar” (The Art of Collecting) y “Arte y literatura en los catálogos del IVAM” (Art and Literature in the Catalogues of the IVAM).

Javier has also directed documentary films "Cézanne visto por Cézanne" (Cézanne as Seen by Cézanne), presented in the Thyssen Museum in 2014, and "Valdés como pretexto" (Valdés as a pretext) that was chosen by the Ministry of Culture for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival's Marché du Film.

Currently, he advises foundations and private collectors internationally. He is often called on his expertise on Picasso, Scully, and the contemporary art scene and markets by the media and often contributes on television and radio and he has been guest lecturer in the Royal Academy of Arts and the Courtauld Institute of Art, both in London.
